Located in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains in Southeast Ohio, come learn about key characters from the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries and how their lives help capture the arc of the history of America.
The tour begins in the era of settlement and of the creation of the State of Ohio, describing local characters who were active in the Athens community and highlighting their relationship to powerful dynamics in American society both today and in the past. Key forces described on the tour include capitalism, racism, the civil war, entrepreneurship, philanthropy, mental health, and the environment.
