This tour begins in the era of settlement and the creation of the State of Ohio, walking through the unfolding of the 19th and 20th centuries via local characters who were active in the Athens community and highlighting their relationship to powerful dynamics in American society both today and in the past, such as racism, civil war, entrepreneurship, philanthropy, mental health, and the environment.
